Credit cards are widely used in Taiwan, with most banks issuing cards to Taiwanese and non-Taiwanese residents. Foreigners without an Alien Residence Certicate may be unable to apply for a credit card, or asked for a local guarantor when applying. Many local credit cards come with features such as cash-advance privileges.
