The 2005 BOTY International Street Dance Competition in Taiwan was held on July 30 at the Chun Tian Plaza in Taichung City, where street dancers from all over the country gathered to compete for the championship and qualify as the Taiwan representative team to enter the 2005 BOTY International Street Dance Competition in Germany.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau expressed that the BOTY International Street Dance Competition is already in its 16th year, with competitions held in Taiwan and China for the first time this year. In previous years, Taiwanese teams have traveled to Thailand out of their own pockets to join the competition. The Taiwanese team has won 8th place in the world competitions and was champion in southeast Asia. The Taiwanese team is only just behind the Korean and Japanese teams, and its achievements have been recognized by the organizers at Germany’s BOTY International Street Dance Competition. Therefore, a special opportunity has been given to Taiwan this year, holding a selection competition locally in Taiwan. And winners from this competition will represent Taiwan at the German competition. Taichung City is very proud to be part of this event, bringing street dance from Taiwan to the international stages.
