Typhoon Terri attacked Taiwan but Taichung was lucky to escape without too much damage. However, hurricane Katrina has wreaked havoc over America’s state of Louisiana, causing many people to become homeless. Taichung city mayor Jason Hu has written to Louisiana State Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and Melvin “Kip” Holden, the mayor of Baton Rouge, the capital state of Louisiana, also the sister city of Taichung. Mayor Hu expressed his condolences and sent words of comfort. He also contacted local charity organizations such as the Houston headquarters of Tzu Chi Foundation to help victims rebuild their homes.
