Taichung’s famous Sun Cake is getting engaged. The Sun Cake Prince will get engaged with the beautiful Assam Tea Princess on September 14, under the guidance of Taichung city Deputy Mayor Xiao Jia-Qi. The ceremony will be held according to the traditional way with twelve engagement gifts. During the ceremony, the YuCi Folk Dance Troupe will make a performance; there will also be Sun Cakes and YuCi farming specialties available for tasting, everyone is welcomed to attend the ceremony.

Deputy Mayor Xiao expressed that for this engagement ceremony, the city government has specially prepared brown sugar, rock sugar, winter melon sugar, longyan, canned food, firecrackers and candles, announcement plaques, wine, sun cakes, pineapple cakes, dried mushrooms and other traditional engagement gifts according to tradition.

Delicious sun cakes are a perfect accompaniment to YuCi’s black tea. The fragrant malt flavor of sun cakes go well with black tea.
