The 2005 Taichung International Car Free Day will be held at the National Music Hall Plot on September 17. In order to encourage public participation, on September 13, the Taichung city government, led by the Director of the Government Information Office, sent out a promotional bicycle team to cycle around the city. This is to promote the goodness of cycling, and encourage the public to take part in the International Car Free Day activities.

Director Chen expressed that environmental protection enthusiasts in Europe started the International Car Free Day Movement; the aim is to encourage people to use bicycles more, cut down on the use of motor vehicles to keep the earth clean and healthy. With the sharp increase in oil prices recently, Car Free Day has come at just the right moment. This also provides the public with a new transportation alternative. The public is welcomed to sign up for Car Free Day activities. Let us all work towards a healthier, environmentally friendlier and more beautiful world.
