Mayor Hu delivers his overall administrative report at the city government council meeting, and points out statistics which prove that Taichung city’s many policies are number one in the country(2005-09-19)

When Taichung city Mayor Jason Hu delivered his overall administrative report on September 19, he pointed out statistics, which proved that Taichung city’s public safety has improved significantly. The city government has also made evaluations on basic infrastructure, culture, sport and health, which have all proved to be the best in the country. Many development plans that were made when Mayor Hu came into office are all now on schedule. Mayor Hu believes that in the next ten years, Taichung city will be the heart of Taiwan’s development.


Taichung city’s developments were rated number one out of 23 counties and cities for three consecutive years from 2002 till 2004 in a research named “Overall Competitiveness Comparison of 23 Counties and Government Administrative Policy Check Up” carried out by Global View Magazine in 2004 and 2005.


In the meanwhile, due to the needs of a rapidly growing population, there have been calls to the central government for plans to build a mass rapid transit system in Taichung. And in order to make the city fully connected to the internet, wireless internet connection has been established. In order to improve the public’s living standard and to help prevent disasters and flooding, more parks and greens have been created, and rivers such as DaLi Stream and FaZhi Stream. Many development plans that were made when Mayor Hu came into office are all now on schedule and one by one coming into fruition. The team at the city government will continue to work hard at providing a better living standard for the people of Taichung.
