Joint Weddings with Mayor Hu as Witness(2005-10-10)

At 9am on October 10, the 2005 Taichung City Citizens and Government Employees Joint Wedding Ceremony took place at the National Taiwan Museum of Art. Taichung city Mayor Jason Hu transformed himself into the "King of the Land of Happiness", holding a "staff of happiness" in his hand, he witnessed the marriages of 86 happy couples, and announced the special rights of the wives. He asked the 86 "knights" to vow to their "princesses" eternal love that would last as long as diamonds and gold. Mayor Hu also hoped that these "knights" will make great husbands and build wonderful families with their spouses.
The theme of this wedding ceremony was "European Style Romance". It was the first time the city government held the ceremony at the National Taiwan Museum of Art. The multi faceted Art Museum was transformed into a Medieval European garden filled with romance. The wedding ceremony was designed with the concept of classical elegance, using gold as its theme color, so that the newly weds and their guests would all feel like they have walked into a royal European wedding banquet.
