Huge number of sparrows were found dead at ShuiNan Airport but have been confirmed not to have died from the infectious bird flu virus(2005-10-22)

On October 20, 72 dead sparrows that were found at ShuiNan Airport were sent to the Taichung City Animal Disease Control Center for tests. After tests conducted by the National Chung Hsing University's Veterinarian Microbiology Research Center, it was confirmed on October 21 that this was a case of pesticide poisoning and not the feared infectious bird flu virus that caused the sparrows' deaths.
