Foreign English teachers employed by Taichung City will be celebrating the colorful western festival of Halloween in Taiwan this year. The lively atmosphere will spread throughout all schools in Taichung. In order for Taichung citizens to experience this western culture, the Taichung city government has asked these foreign English teachers to help organize a Halloween Parents and Children Fancy Dress Competition at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store on October 30, 2005. The foreign English teachers will invite everyone in Taichung to come dressed up in fancy dress costumes and enjoy Halloween

The Educational Department expressed that through organizing events like this, it is hoped that not only would children learn about international cultures and experience them personally, it is always a way to encourage children to express themselves creatively, so that they are exposed to a multi faceted English learning environment, and are able to use what they have learnt in the classroom in their everyday lives.
