As the average age of Taichung Elementary and Junior High schools has come down to 37, students' parents are delighted to see the interaction between teachers and students becoming more and more amicable.

The director of the Bureau of Education Jang Guang Ming says that since Mayor Hu took up the post, the city government has made every effort to see to the happening in which teachers express their will of retirement. For the past four years, there have been 322 teachers retiring from Elementary and Junior High Schools in 2003, 339 in 2004, 307 in 2005 while 233 have been approved in 2006. The average age of Elementary and Junior High School teachers has come down to 37 and it's expected to go even lower in the future.
