The city government is adjusting the bus fee, the government will pay for the difference (2006-10-2)

To cater to the fluctuating oil price, city bus companies committee came to a conclusion, that starting from October 1, the bus fee will remain the same. The city government will bridge any price difference caused by the policy. The public won't be affected.


The public transportation bureau said that the mayor has approved the proposal. After the adjustment, the basic fee comes to NT$21,596. The ticket fee is NT$20 for any rides within 8 Km and which brings up the price difference NT$1,596, which will be compensated by the government. Rides exceed 8 km, the fee will calculated according to the current regulation.


The bureau also stated that the adjustment is mainly to guarantee that both the bus companies and the public are not affected by the fluctuating oil price and to ease the burden posed by it.


Passengers who use e-cards will be funded by the government NT$5, which means that everybody is actually paying NT%15. Children or student tickets NT$11 remain the same.
