2007 Shining Cultural Season kicks off, and the Coloring Festival comes first(2007-09-14)

  The 2007 Shining Cultural Season Coloring City Series conducted by Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, kicked off on Sept. 15th , and the 6th Annual Coloring Festival came first, from Sep. 15th to 27th, centering on the International Coloring Totem Exhibition. Each weekend the parent-and-children coloring workshops and a variety of dynamic and static activities were set up for people’s participation, as well as parent-and-children coloring moon cakes in Wenxin Forest Park on Sept. 25th. 

  During the press meeting on Sept. 14th Deputy Mayor Hsiao stated that this year was the 6th year of the activity since 2002, and that the Season had became one of the most important cultural events in Central Taiwan. He encouraged many citizens to participate in some of the cultural fairs. This year, Coloring Festival was the first on stage with the topic of totems, inviting 125 artists and 180 pieces of art work from 25 countries, including: Australia, Poland, Britain, Germany, Norway, Mexico, and South Africa to celebrate the large-scale international art banquet.

  According to Director Tsao, the Coloring Festival had its opening on Sept. 15th and included a thousand-people scarf painting in the Cultural Center Plaza and Maychung Park, welcoming attendants’ registration on site, as well as painting a beetle car, cosmetics night party, performance of children’s favorite magic tricks, Sichuan Opera ‘Changing Face’, African drum, belly dance, and electronic-music slide show.

  The parent-and-children painting events on Sept. 16th, 22nd, and 23rd were full of registrations, where bamboo fans, pinwheels, music cards, and tambourines were painted. The last activity, on Sept. 25th, was moon cake and baseball painting in the Round Theater in Wenxin Forest Park, limited to on-site registration only.

  As for static activity, the International Coloring Totem Exhibition had as its topic, the modern totem, where many artists created their free expressions on the long, soft cloth of 180cm*60cm.
