Witness beautiful love on 10 Oct. 2010 (National Day) 155 couples got married in Taichung City

Today, National Day in 2010, the joint wedding of Taichung City citizens and civil servants was specially chosen to be held in the newly-constructed City Hall Plaza. With the blessings and witnesses of Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu, and Deputy Mayor Xiao Jia-Qi, 155 couples got married. Mayor Hu said that the most sacred trust happens at this time. From now on, the two of you will be inseparable, and always be in love forever!

Mayor Hu said, “Today is the 2010 National Day of Taiwan, everyone chose today to tie the knot, which represents that your love will last for a long time, and always be perfect. I hope the groom will remember the beauty of his bride at this moment, and remember it forever. Perhaps, one day, she will have some wrinkles on her face which shows the signs of aging, change from a beautiful girl to a grandmother, but it is because she tries very hard to take care of you and your children.” during his speech.

To allow the newlyweds to have an unforgettable memory and develop creativity, the city government prepared a “NT $3,000” red envelope for the most creative red carpet walking couples in today’s Taichung City joint wedding. Every couple showed their creativity. Some showed their handmade puppet dolls, and some spread beautiful petals. At the end, the newlyweds, Chen Ying-Ren and Liao Tien-Li, who wore a traditional Chinese wedding suit and dress, prepared an ancient sedan chair and had their coworkers act as the matchmakers and the chair bearers, won the red envelope.

The entire wedding ceremony was begun by Mayor Hu and the guests pulled the tabs of the “Love Salute”, which symbolize eternal love. They led 155 newlywed couples to swear their declaration of love, share thick chocolate, which symbolizes sweetness, etc. sweet ceremonies, and ended the ceremony successfully. As this is the first time to hold the wedding ceremony at the new city hall building, the newlyweds also took this rare opportunity to take photos at this beautiful place.
