The Ministry of Culture has recently released the list of winners of its 2013Performing Art Groups Funding Plan. Two performing arts groups from Taichung City, namely the Open Theater Group (大開劇團)and the Modern Arts Dance Theater (極至體能舞蹈團), will be subsidized under the grouping of"Modern Opera” and “Dance”, respectively.
These two performing arts groups have participated in the grant program for many years and have been repeatedly awarded by the Ministry of Culture. For example, the "Open Theater Group" has been awarded for nine consecutive years, while the "Modern Arts Dance Theater" for eight times. Both are the pride of Taichung City! They are excellent teams that have planted roots in the Taichung area. They have been seeking breakthroughs and innovation in artistic creation and management. They have been enriching the art and culture environment for Taichung City in particular and Taiwan in general. Therefore, on behalf of Taichung citizens, we would like to congratulate them for their winning again the grant from Ministry of Culture. It is really a proof of their outstanding contribution to the performing arts in Taichung City.
It is worth mentioning that the Open Theater Group was also one of the winners of Gold Arts Award (金藝獎) in 2012, an award launched in 2012 by the Taichung City Government to express thanks and respect to any Taiwanese performing arts teams contributing to uplift the arts environment for Taichung. The Culture Affairs Bureau hopes that all our citizens’ give encouragement and support to the outstanding performing art steams by taking part in their performing activities.
