Environmental Protection Bureau of Taichung City Government held the launching ceremony for its Appliances Clinic mobile service vehicles today (May 7) at the square of Taichung Prefectural Hall. It was announced that during the period from May to November, a home appliances inspection and maintenance pilot test will be held at four designated stations, including the Nantun District Office, the Fengyuan District Resource Recovery Park, the Dajia Women's Welfare Centre, and the Wufeng District Elder Academy. Invited by Director-general Liu Bang-yu (劉邦裕) to the launch ceremony were the district mayors, neighborhood chiefs, and city councilors of the four locations.

Liu Bang-yu, Director-general of Environmental Protection, said “We will arrange a mobile service vehicle together with maintenance personnel to tour around the Nantun District Office, the Fengyuan District Resource Recovery Park, the Dajia Women's Welfare Centre and the Wufeng District Elder Academy. The service time is between 9:00 and 16:00 on every 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th day of each month. You are welcome to bring over your small appliances for inspection and maintenance.”

Both Appliances Clinic are open between 8:00 and 16:30 on every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (except Wednesdays, Sundays and national holidays).

Environmental Protection Bureau said that the Appliances Clinic is now offering repair and maintenance service to eight items, including electric fans, hair dryers, ovens, water dispensers, table lamps, electronic cookers (including electronic pans), juice machines, and thermos. When sending in any item for repair, you are required to fill out an application form to provide basic information and pay NT$ 50 as a service charge for each item (Extra fee will be charged for special materials). If the item is diagnosed as repairable, it will be fixed and the owner will be notified to pick up his or her item(s).
