The Taichung City Government Local Tax Bureau has announced that, for the sake of a sound property tax registration system and to maintain the fairness of the rental tax, it will launching its 2013 property tax registration and use-type checks from February, March and June until November this year. The focus of inspections will be checks on use-type, currently-evaluated property value, lot rate, tax-deductible properties, the property applicable tax rate, factory properties that are incompatible with the 50% business tax deduction, properties in which business is being carried out but on which the business-use tax hasn’t been levied, and newly-built properties and ones that have had an extension added or which have been renovated.
The bureau has said that the focus of checks will be on members of the public who have made additions to the first floor or top floor of their properties, have enclosed their balcony so as to increase the space of the connecting room, have illegally added a factory, or have converted previously vacant space for factory use, etc. The Bureau would like to remind the public that when building new properties, adding an extension, carrying out renovations or altering the use-type of their property, they are requested to submit and application 30 days in advance to avoid being fined for tax omissions.
The Bureau also explained that, in order to carry out the check, it had already cross-checked computer data and acquired aerial photographs and other technical tools. Inspection personnel, each of whom will be carrying an official ID, are being dispatched to survey properties. Members of the public are requested to comply with the checks, and the Bureau would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused.
