To effectively promote environmental protection knowledge among elementary school students, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Taichung City Government plans to launch such environmental education related topics as "natural ecology", "carbon reduction" and "renewable water resources” between September and November 2013. The EPB will take the initiative to dispatch its Earth-Love touring bus to those schools which have applied for the educational programs.

Mayor Jason Hu said, “We should not talk about caring for the earth only. We must walk our talk. Thus, we have set up budget to launch the Environmental Education Action Bus. In this Earth-Love touring bus there are three hundred fifty environmental knowledge books, picture books, interactive games, and DIY teaching aids. We have also invited professional lecturers from National Museum of Natural Science and Nature Research Society of Taiwan to tour around the elementary and junior high schools in Taichung.”

Mayor Jason Hu also pointed out that the touring bus trip to schools is arranged for the first time this year. If this pilot test produces results, this touring trip will be continued.

Liu Bang-Yu (劉邦裕), Director-general of Environmental Protection Bureau reminded people by saying, “Application starts from now until October 30, 2013. All the elementary and junior high schools are welcomed to apply. We hope elementary school kids can increase their environmental education awareness in each of the eight areas. We offer rich and interesting environmental and ecological programs through interactive games and DIY teaching aids. We hope the touring bus will become the Green Paradise in the eyes of elementary school kids and environmental protection knowledge can take roots in the campus. The new generation will become the power house to make Taichung City an environmentally friendly low-carbon city.”

Environmental Protection Bureau stressed that every elementary and junior high school can apply for the environmental education touring bus now. The bus will station at each point for three hours, during which environmental education certified instructors from National Museum of Natural Science and Nature Research Society of Taiwan will lead the school kids to go through the exciting and lively curriculum and play computer games. There are 350 books related to various types of environmental education knowledge on the bus.
