Thai King Bhumibol the Great passed away on the 13th. Thailand was struck by national-wide grief and the international community also showed great concern. To provide a place for the Thai workers and new inhabitants to mourn, Labor Affairs Bureau of Taichung city government sets up memorial hall at booth 272, 3rd floor of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) square starting at 15th this month till November 14th. Thais and other citizen can express and record recollection for the Thai king there.

Thai King Bhumibol the Great was loved by the people of Thailand and the death of him saddened them. The international community also showed great mourning. Labor Affairs Bureau of Taichung city government indicated that the number of Thai workers in Taichung adds up to 9,219, ranking second in the country. To offer a place for the city’s Thai workers and the new inhabitants to mourn, the Bureau decorated the 272 booth on the 3rd floor of ASEAN square with flowers and portrait of the Thai King. Memorial book is also available for Thai workers and new inhabitants to express their mourning and grief.

Director of Labor Affairs Bureau, Hung Ho-Ting stated that Thai King Bhumibol the Great holds a high status in the hearts of the Thais, his death is considered to be national mourning in Thailand. She hopes that the employers of Thais and other citizens should care for the Thai workers and the new inhabitants by giving them time to rest while showing respect for their recollection of the Thai King.

The 3rd floor of ASEAN square opens from 11 AM to 7 PM. The Labor Affairs of Bureau and the Economic Development Bureau have requested the full cooperation of related manufacturers and management committee, hoping to finish decorating tomorrow before 11 AM (15th), ensuring the Thais a place to mourn.
