Taichung City Social Affairs Bureau joined Gold Jewelry Gem Co. to launch the blood drive campaign today (14th). Gift vouchers were given out to blood donors at Taichung Park Plaza and all blood donation stations. The goal was 2,500 bags. Deputy Director-General of Social Affairs Bureau, Chen Kun-Huang, joined the blood donors at the campaign site in the cold weather and called on the city residents to warm up the city with their generosity.

Deputy Director-General Chen thanked Gold Jewelry Gem Co. for their frequent donations of canned food, meat floss, diapers and milk powder to the food bank. Their charity is now expanded from low income families to more people in need through this joint blood drive campaign with the city government.

The Social Affairs Bureau pointed out that every winter when the cold front comes, less people are willing to come out and give blood. Many schools are now in winter break and busy preparing for the coming Chinese New Year Festival, so the source of donors often drops substantially during the holiday period. In view of this, the Social Affairs Bureau launched this campaign to stock up blood supply for medical needs during the holiday season.

Chairman of Gold Jewelry Gem Co., Wu Chung-Yung, said that he was very happy to see so many people come out to give blood. He prepared 3,000 Akaoni Steak gift vouchers for the blood donors.

Gold Jewelry Gem Co. pointed out that there are several benefits that come with the act of giving blood. It is not only an act to help people but also an opportunity to have a check-up on one’s general health. What’s more! Giving blood also boosts the metabolism. Especially in winter when blood is generally in short supply, the company acted to help those in need in the community and took on the mission to raise people’s awareness.
