To embrace the year of the golden rooster, Taichung City Government launched an innovative design of a one-dollar red envelope and lucky bag “Lucky Opening”. With AR technology, you can experience the hottest 3D interactive technology. By scanning the QR Code on the back of the red envelope with a phone, you can play little interactive games with virtual golden roosters and take photos to share with friends. Mayor Lin Chia-lung demonstrated how to use the App, hoping the little red envelopes can bring happiness and luckiness to everybody during the Chinese New Year.

On the 25th, Mayor Lin showed the public how to play with the little red envelopes with his phone. The City Government leveraged advanced “AR” technology to design the little red envelopes. Once you use your phone to scan the QR Code on the back of the red envelope, you will be directed to a dedicated website. Then download and open the App “Lucky Opening”. Open the red envelope and turn it over to the back “Golden Rooster Family”, and aim the phone at the firecracker picture on the red envelope. Then you can start playing little 3D interactive games and take photos to share with your friends.

According to Mayor Lin, the red envelopes this year were very eye-catching. Once you open the red envelope, you will find a one-dollar coin symbolizing “the beginning of a new year”. More than that, you can also find some photos of cute chickens, hens and roosters for the year of the rooster along with all kinds of key words related to city policies, supporting city policies including subsidy programs for prospective young farmers, young entrepreneur program, childcare one-stop service, eldercare one-stop service, artificial teeth subsidy program for seniors, etc. He hoped the public would enjoy it.

City Government explanation: Open the “Lucky Opening” App, aim the phone at the firecracker picture on the red envelope and you will hear a lively New Year festive sound. At first, your phone will show three 3D firecrackers, then you light three firecrackers based on the illustrations and you will see golden roosters starting to lay golden eggs. After you click and collect six golden eggs, the golden rooster will hold high auspicious words. There are many auspicious words to choose from, including “Great fortune in the year of the Rooster”, “Happy New Year”, “Best wishes for the New Year”, “Wishing you prosperity”, “Golden rooster brings happiness”, etc. Finally, you can take photos of the golden roosters and golden eggs and share them with your friends and relatives, wishing them a Happy New Year.

From the first day to the third day of the Chinese New Year, Mayor Lin will distribute limited quantities of “Lucky Opening” interactive envelopes in various temples.
