The 52nd Paris Air Show was held between June 19 and 25. On the 20th, Taichung Mayor Lin attended the Taiwan press conference at Le Bourget, where he promoted Taiwanese smart machinery and aerospace industries to the world. Mayor Lin stated that Taichung is an important location for the smart machinery and aerospace industries. In addition to implementing different policies to promote the development of Taichung’s aerospace industry, the city government hopes to take this chance to garner more opportunities for international business and cooperation.
The Taiwanese press conference at the Paris Air Show took place on June 20. In addition to Mayor Lin, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in France Zhang Mingzhong, Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation Vice CEO Lin Nanzhu, and Director of the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology Gao Zhongxing were also in attendance. Short presentations on Taiwan’s airline industry, defense industry, and exhibitioners’ newly developed technology were given. Mayor Lin donned VR glasses to experience the VR technology of precision machinery.
Mayor Lin thanked the trade association, R.O.C. representative in France, and the Industrial Technology Research Institute for their help, as well as allowing Taiwan a stall at the air show to exhibit Taiwanese smart machinery and aerospace products and parts, saying “through comprehensive sales methods, we make it so that Taiwan’s smart machine companies no longer have to struggle alone!”
Mayor Lin stated that this year’s Paris Air Show was quite special, as Taiwanese companies in attendance received the platform of a Taiwan stall. Through comprehensive sales models, the companies showed the world the excellence of Taiwanese smart machinery and the aerospace industry, as well as promoting Taiwan to the world. In addition to aerospace, precision machinery, and tool companies, Taichung is also home to the NCSIST, creating an industrial cluster. The city hopes to promote international cooperation through participating in the air show.
Lin stated that Taichung is an important location in the smart machinery and aerospace industries. The central and local governments jointly established the Office of Smart Machinery Promotion this year, helping traditional Taiwanese manufacturers switch to smart manufacturing and raising the output value of Taiwan’s machine industry, and promoting Taichung as the capital of smart machinery.
Additionally, the city government is working in accordance with the Domestic Aircraft Made Locally policy in promoting the machine industry to delve into aerospace markets. In the future, the government will continue to help companies improve their aerospace manufacturing technology while simultaneously providing support through exhibition centers, industrial parks, development capabilities, and certification aid.
The Taichung Department of Economic Development stated, Taichung has a complete machine and aerospace industrial cluster. Additionally, the government has planned to build the Shuinan International Exhibition and Conference Center, which will provide 5,000 stalls to fulfill industrial development policies, and creating a home-field advantage. This way, Taiwan may attract air shows to the Shuinan International Exhibition and Conference Center, and the Taichung International Airport can hold air performances, greatly helping the development of Taichung’s aerospace industry.
The Department of Economic Development stated that the Paris Air Show started in 1909, and is held on odd-numbered years in June at Le Bourget in Paris. In addition to an international aircraft industry products exhibition, over 150 aircraft are on display as well, with aerial performances each afternoon. Major global aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Air Bus attend the event, and it is the world’s most prestigious air show. The previous show saw over 2,300 companies in attendance.
