In order to promote the rich agricultural products of Taichung through experience, emotion, and story, the Taichung Government Information Bureau introduced brand new agriculture promotion videos. Topics for the videos are peaches, pears, Gaoshan tea, and different life stories told by alley travelling delivery people. The videos were posted to the Facebook fan page of Good Life in Taichung over three days starting from July 4 each night at 9:00 p.m. Today, the Legislative Yuan of the city government held a press conference for the videos, which were promoted by Mayor Lin Jialong. The government hopes that the videos of people’s lives will help consumers understand fruit, as well as encouraging everyone to purchase seasonal local produce to help farmers and reduce our carbon footprint.

The Taichung City Government chose seasonal produce: peaches, pears, and Gaoshan tea as topics for the promotional videos. The videos portray three stages of our lives: youth, middle age, and old age. The peach video signifies the sweet anticipation of youth, the pear video hopes for eternal love, and the Gaoshan tea video uses tea to discuss life, and its tempered sweetness, connecting agricultural products with interpersonal warmth and goodness. The video posted on July 4 made many people happy, and many viewers commented they were sympathetic to its contents.

Mayor Lin, Agriculture and Food Agency Chief Chen Jianbin, Taichung Department of Agriculture Chair Wang Junxiong, Legislators Hong Ciyong, Chen Manli, Wu Qiming, Gao Zhipeng, He Xinchun, Zhangliao Wanshu, Huang Guoshu, Chen Tingfei, Chen Oubo, and Heping District Representative Committee Vice Chair Luo Jinyu all put on Taichung’s unique fruit clothing and promoted the agriculture industry. Director Chen Yigen, actors Cai Mingxiu, Huang Haoming, Xu Yuting, Chen Mengru also shared their experiences filming in Taichung.

“Friends share good things!” Mayor Lin stated. The city government combined the life of agricultural products to make videos introducing emotional stories of fruit and tea. This was a new experience, but reactions were mostly positive. In the future, the government will make the videos available on the internet and other platforms to share in the emotions.

He also stated Taiwan is the hometown of fruit, especially in Taichung, where land is plentiful, the climate is pleasant. Taichung produces great numbers of flowers such as lilies and orchids, and over 20 types of fruit including honey apples and dragon fruit. The fruit is juicy, just the right amount of sweet, and tioh-si, seasonal in Hokkien. The mayor advises everyone to choose local, seasonal fruits in order to help local farmers and reduce our carbon footprint.

In addition to sharing the fruit of Taichung, Mayor Lin also used the opportunity to promote the 2018 World Flower Expo, as well as to turn Taichung into a flower and fruit producer, and share local fruits at the flower expo.

Agriculture and Food Agency Chief Chen Jianbin stated that, in addition to the 2018 Taichung World Flower Expo, Mayor Lin managed to secure the 2020 World Orchid Expo and Committee for Taichung. He hopes that people from all over the world can come to Taichung to experience Taichung’s fruit, tea, and flowers.

Director Chen Yigen stated that crops are gifts from the earth, and he used alternative filming methods to give a different image and meaning to agricultural products. Actors Cai Mingxiu, Huang Haoming, Xu Yuting, and Chen Mengru also shared their experiences filming in Taichung. Cai Mingxiu stated that not many people promote agricultural products through videos, and so the government’s decision was revolutionary.

The Information Bureau stated the climate of Taichung is comfortable, and Taichung has beautiful nature. After years of farmers working hard to plant crops, Taichung has developed a marvelous agricultural industry, allowing Taiwanese citizens to share in the wonderful flavors of Taichung. A new season of produce is coming, the Information Bureau used experience, emotion, and stories to sell the diverse agricultural products of Taichung in videos promoting a brand-new image of agriculture.

The three videos are centered around peaches, pears, and Gaoshan tea. Peaches signify that youth is a period of sweet waiting, Pears signify togetherness, and Gaoshan Tea signifies tempered sweetness. The stories are told through the eyes of the delivery people that traverse the alleys of Taichung. Starting from today, and for the next 3 days at 9:00 p.m., the videos will be posted to the Good Life in Taichung Facebook fan page (http://bitly/2dWHiGl), everyone is invited to experience the different feelings of different stages in a person’s life.

Bureau of Agriculture Chair Wang Junxiong stated that Taichung is known as the hometown of peaches, with about 500 hectares of orchard, producing 6,153 tons of fruit annually, the most in the nation. Pear orchards make up 3594 hectares, and, due to ample sunlight, the pears are sweet and juicy, and the meat is tender, making them excellent fruit. Lishan tea plants cover 419 hectares, producing around 272 tons annually. Because Lishan’s tea farm is located between 1,800 and 2,500 meters, with a large temperature difference between day and night.
