The Taichung City Government is once again jointly hosting the 2017 Let’s Go Supporting this year with SupporTing Corp. They will be holding a series of animal protection events starting in July, including the White Bear Project x Wild-Life photography exhibition, screening the documentary Black Fish-Black Whale, Park Carnival, and lectures. The government hopes to give the public the opportunity to learn about animal protection and environmental sustainability concepts in an interesting way. Mayor Lin Jialong attended a press conference on July 15 to encourage parents to bring their children to the events, allowing environmental and ecological education to take root. There is much for adults to learn as well to allow the world to develop sustainably.

In addition to Mayor Lin, Bureau of Agriculture Chief Wang Junxiong and Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office Chief Lin Ruliang also attended the press conference held on July 15 at the National Library of Public Information. Also in attendance were SupporTing Corp leader Liu Weiping, photographer Jimmy Beunardeau, director Raye of Twelve Nights, National Library of Public Information Head Liu Zhongcheng, Pintung University of Science and Technology Department of Wild Animals chair Huang Meixiu, all of whom wished to show their support on the topic of animals.

Mayor Lin stated, “if you support animals, I support you!” Animals are an integral part of any ecosystem. The city government has cooperated for the past 2 years on Let’s Go Supporting in the hopes of reminding everyone to protect animals and the environment through exhibitions, lectures, documentaries, and the carnival.

Mayor Lin also stated that reporters in attendance will also be moved and saddened, because of director Qi Bolin, who attended the Let’s Go Supporting press conference with Lin last year. Director Qi showed everyone the beauty and sorrow of the land of Taiwan, and, although he tragically passed away, he still reminds everyone much importance Taiwan places on protecting the plants, animals, ecology, and environment.Mayor Lin also encouraged parents to bring their children to the event to allow the concepts of environmental protection to take root early in their lives, while adults may also have things to learn. He also urged everyone to “adopt, don’t buy” as well as be kind to wild animals, allowing all lives on earth to develop sustainably.

The White Bear Project x Wild-Life exposition photographer Jimmy Beunardeau stated, because he likes animals, he used Facebook and e-mail to contact Dr. Huang, Chair of the Pintung University of Science and Technology Department of Wild Animals, who has studies the Taiwanese black bear for a long time. He also came to PUST to photograph the lives of animals at the large wild animals adoption center. He hopes to speak for wild animals through his camera lens.

The Animal Protection Office stated the 2017 Let’s Go Supporting is a series of events with animals at the core, including the White Bear Project x Wild-Life exhibition, the SupporTing Animals Creative Experiment Project-100 Proper Ways to Love Animals, a screening of influential documentary Black Fish-Black Whale, and the SupporTing Carnival. The organizers hope to let the public take part in the event, make the public happy, and move them in an interesting way.

The White Bear Project x Wild-Life photography exhibition has already begun. Taiwanese photographer who lives in the Netherlands Luo Shengwen and French Photographer Jimmy Beunardeau created the exhibition together by recording the lives of polar bears through photography. The exhibition lasts from July 1 to August 27.

Additionally, 3 lectures on supporting animals, and an environmental documentary film exposition will be held from July to August. The events will all take place at the National Library of Public Information. The public can attend for free by registering in advance.
