Since the operation of bus route 309 that runs between Taichung City and Gaomei Wetland has earned high praises. To facilitate people watching the sunset at Gaomei Wetland, after coordination between Taichung City Government and the bus company, bus route 309 will be rescheduled. Starting from July 29, the last bus returning to downtown Taichung from Gaomei Wetland will start at 7:20 pm. The vehicles of route 309 sightseeing buses are articulated buses to provide more capacity for passengers. The Transportation Bureau welcomes visitors to take this bus.

It is convenient and time saving to visit Gaomei Wetland by bus route 309. Since its operation on July 7, there have been about 3,500 people riding on this bus. And people praise the city government’s service plan highly. As the time of sunset is later in the summer, some people suggest to extend the operation hours of bus 309.

Wang Yi-chuan, Director-General of the Transportation Bureau expressed that the bureau has rescheduled operation of bus 309 with reference to the actual sunset time. And the summer timetable and winter timetable will be operated in different seasons. Before the end of September, the summer timetable will be applied. The last bus from Gaomei Wetland will be 7:20 pm. It offers visitors ample time to enjoy the sunset view there.

Moreover, some people still cannot figure out the time for the first bus and the place of the bus stop. Director Wang said the departing point at Taichung Rail Station is the “First Square Station” – Taichung ASEAN Square “to the direction of the rail station.” At present, the scheduled arrival time is shown on the bus route map. The first bus to Gaomei Wetland is 10:20am in the morning.

Director Wang pointed out that the coastal line is rich in sightseeing resources. The bus route there will be reinforced continuously in the next three years. Visitors can take the new bus routes 309, 655, and 688 starting from Taichung Rail Station, Taichung HSR Station, and Qingshui Rail Station to Goamei Wetland directly. In addition, they can take buses 303, 308, and other buses, with the total of 6 routes, running along the optimized bus lanes to Shalu, Qingshui, Dajia, Wuqi, and other sightseeing spots, such as Taichung City Seaport Art Center, Tzuyun Yen, Dai Ja Jenn Lann Temple, Wuqi Old Street, and more. It is nice to take a sightseeing, cultural, food tasting, and leisure trip along the coastal line areas.

From April to September every year, the summer time table for bus route 309 will be operated. The last bus departing from Gaomei Wetland will be extended to 7:20pm. From October to March next year, the winter bus schedule will be implemented. The last bus will depart at 6:40pm. Moreover, the first bus departing from Taichung will be 10:20 am. For people planning to take this bus, please observe the correct operation hours.
