Success in soliciting investors! Rockwell to establish branch office in Taichung and present a demonstration production line

As the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation, Rockwell Automation is also the leading brand in the industry. On August 12, Taichung City Mayor Chia-lung Lin led industry representatives from Taiwan to visit Rockwell in the Silicon Valley, where a 4-way MOU was signed between the city government, Rockwell, ITRI and PMC to advance smart machinery R&D technology. Rockwell will also create a smart machinery demonstration line at The Taichung City Precision Machinery Innovation Technology Park, which will act as Rockwell’s laboratory in Taichung. In response to Mayo Lin’s invitation, Rockwell also expressed commitment to establish a branch office in Taichung within the next 2 years in order to buttress the energy of Taichung’s smart machinery industry.

The MOU was signed on the 12th between Taichung City Mayor Chia-lung Lin, Rockwell VP of Global Business Development Tom O'Reilly, ITRI Executive VP Pei-zen Chang and PMC GM Yung-hsiang Lai in an effort to forge a long-term cooperative relationship and facilitate a high-efficiency, smart industry.

According to Mayor Lin, the central government has designated Taichung as a smart machinery capital, thus by signing MOU with Rockwell, ITRI and PMC, the city government aims to introduce related technology and resources to improve Taichung’s competitiveness in the field of smart machinery. It is also hoped that the introduction of Rockwell will enable smart machinery and smart manufacturing to take root in Taichung and launch Taichung onto the global stage. Mayor Lin also invited Rockwell to establish base of operation in Taichung.

Rockwell VP of Global Business Development Tom O'Reilly expressed that Rockwell is the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation, and he believes that smart production is the way of the future. Through the signing of MOU today, he expects to generate more technical cooperation opportunities between Rockwell and Taichung and deepen the bilateral relationship. In addition, in response to Mayor Lin’s invitation, Rockwell will be establishing a branch office in Taichung within the next 2 years. Furthermore, the company will also create a smart machinery demonstration line that will act as Rockwell’s laboratory in Taichung

ITRI Executive VP Pei-zen Chang pointed out that Taichung’s precision machinery is well developed and continues to make good progress, collaboration with Rockwell helps to accelerate the forward momentum of related industries and enable them to move up the industry chain. It is hoped that the cooperation will strengthen the industry’s competitiveness.

PMC GM Yung-hsiang Lai noted that PMC has always hoped to combine precision machinery with new technologies such as cloud technology to make each machine more accurate and user-friendly. He expects that the collaboration with Rockwell will generate developments in the precision machinery industry and accelerate industry upgrading in central Taiwan.

According to Economic Development Bureau of Taichung City Government, Rockwell is one of the leading manufacturers of automation and industrial control products in the world, and it is also a professional information services provider that can offer comprehensive system integration and technical support to reduce cost and increase productivity for its clients. After the signing of the MOU, the city government, Rockwell, ITRI and PMC will join forces to upgrade smart machinery R&D technology and build a smart machinery system in order to foster a high-efficiency and smart industry.

Furthermore, Rockwell will create a smart machinery demonstration line at The Taichung City Precision Machinery Innovation Technology Park, which will act as Rockwell’s laboratory in Taichung. Rockwell also expressed commitment to establish a branch office in Taichung within the next 2 years, and the city government will assist Rockwell to join Taichung’s Global Smart Machinery Development Center. In addition, the city government will forge collaboration between Rockwell and the Smart Machinery University Alliance in Taichung, so as to unite the resources of the industry, government, academia and research institutions in boosting industry competitiveness.
