Construct Taichung into an International City – Social Affairs Bureau Sponsored a Multicultural Community Campaign

The number of new immigrants and international labors in Taichung has been increasing. It accelerates Taichung’s internationalization. To allow new immigrants and international labors re-enjoy the children’s game of their home countries, the Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government, sponsored the “New Immigrants Kids’ Fun-A Multicultural Campaign” on the National Day of Indonesia. It is hoped to communicate the concept of respecting multiculture to transform Taichung into an international friendly city.The Social Affairs Bureau expressed that the National Day of Indonesia on August 17 annually is also its Memorial Day of independence. People will hold all sorts of contests to celebrate. Today, the Social Affairs Bureau also sponsored a multicultural community campaign on the National Day of Indonesia. There were featured Southeast Asian toys’ challenges, Indonesia snacks ring toss game, and more. All participants enjoyed themselves very much.

Lue Jen-der, the Director of Social Affairs Bureau expressed that the number of new immigrants and international labors has been growing in Taichung City, which has become an international city already. By the end of June this year, there were 54,557 of new immigrants, ranking the 5th in Taiwan. To help these new immigrants adapt to their lives in Taiwan, the Social Affairs Bureau has established 4 new immigrant family service centers, 1 new immigrant multicultural library, and 17 new immigrants social service points, hoping to offer new immigrants full support. Likewise, they can find Taiwan their new home.
