It is also very elegant to shop at a traditional market. The first traditional market located in a department store – “The 6th Market” – is equipped with air conditioning. Modern in spatial design, it attracts not only stalls from traditional markets to march into the department store but also provide a shopping environment, comfortable and with hospitality. The 6th Market’s unveiling ceremony was hosted by Lu Yao-zhi, Director of Economic Development Bureau, on the 21st. Many of the administrators of the public markets also attended this ceremony, hoping to create a finest traditional market shopping environment.

Chen Huai-cheng, General Manager of the Park Lane expressed that department stores always get an image of costly elegance; albeit traditional market is imbued with hospitality yet old that often makes people sweat. Therefore, the 6th Market combines the merits of the two to present people with a clean, comfortable shopping environment and diverse commodities at reasonable prices compared with those in traditional markets.

The Economic Development Bureau of Taichung City Government pointed out that comparing with Jianguo Market, a modernized morning market, the 6th Market opens around afternoon to offer service at different time. In addition, this market combines the merits of department stores, supermarkets, and traditional markets, allowing people to enjoy the service of department stores, to buy commodities from traditional markets, and to feel the local hospitality.

Besides, the modern spatial design and enhanced hardware facilities had attracted many vendors from traditional markets. By providing diverse shopping environment, it aims to expand its consumer groups.
