This year marks the third year of the Taichung City Joint Cultural Creativity Achievement Exhibition. This year’s theme is “Design ∞Taichung,” with the three sections of the exhibition named “Creativity ∞ Wonderful,” “Life ∞ Bright,” and “Bliss ∞ Delicious.” The exhibition will take place from now until November 19 at the Taichung National Theater, and display the results from the creativity policies of many different departments. The exhibition will include the international animation festival from the Information Bureau, the No. 2 Market’s centennial celebration from the Economic Development Bureau, and the Star-Catcher Youth Program from the Labor Bureau. This year, for the first time, two exposition areas will be open, with the 3A House Architecture Exhibition taking place in Maple Garden Park, showing off the style and culture of Taichung City.

The opening ceremony for the Taichung City Joint Cultural Creativity Achievement Exhibition took place today (11/1). Deputy Mayor Lin Yiying was in attendance, along with representatives from 11 different departments. Together, they held flowers and watered wheat fields, representing the cultural, artistic and creative nourishment provided by Taichung, allowing creativity to flourish. Representatives for City Councilors Lai Jiawei and Liu Shizhou were also in attendance.

Deputy Mayor Lin stated that she was happy that the Taichung City Joint Cultural Creativity Achievement Exhibition came to the National Theater. 11 departments, including the Information Bureau, Urban Development Bureau, Tourism Bureau, and Labor Bureau, worked together to create a platform of more than 80 companies to display a diverse array of life art. Visitors to the exhibition can purchase these creative products as gifts or for themselves.

Deputy Mayor Lin stated that creativity is not just a display of design and talent, but is also an integration of the market chain. The city government hopes to use this type of exhibition to bring creativity into the lives of the public, and make daily life in Taichung elegant and wonderful as Taichung becomes the second largest city in Taiwan.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that this year marks the first time the exhibition has taken place in the National Theater. The exhibition worked with the resident company of the National Theater, VVG Group to plan the three exhibition areas: “Creativity ∞ Wonderful,” “Life ∞ Bright,” and “Bliss ∞ Delicious” for the VVG Good Design area on the first floor, and the VVG Books Play and Food Play areas on the fifth floor. The exhibition space makes use of the National Theater itself, using the curved wall design concept in the exhibition hall itself. The exhibition uses fibrous paper to create a circular exhibition stage, allowing visitors to enjoy the space of the National Theater and experience the diverse creativity of Taichung.

This year’s exhibition will be open for 19 days, instead of the original 10. This also marks the first year that the exhibition will combine with the Maple Garden Park’s 3A House 6th Urban Space Design Awards Exhibition from the Urban Development Bureau in a separate exhibition hall. Additionally, this year marks the first time the exhibition will provide marketing and promotional services, providing a platform for creative entrepreneurs in Taichung to market and promote themselves to help industrialize creativity. The exhibition will also feature some Sheltered Workshop products so that those with disabilities have more retail opportunities.

This exhibition features static displays, visual design, and dynamic visual displays. These include pieces form the Cultural Affairs Bureau Design Partnership, “2017 Creative Taichung,” the results of the “Visual Taichung, the Film-Friendly City” plan, 2017 Taichung International Animation Festival, Central Taiwan Travel Program Creation, design for the Central Taiwan Cinema Promotion Area and 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo, the City within a City Tourism Promotional Event from the Tourism Bureau, lacquer art and centennial celebration for No. 2 Market from the Economic Development Bureau, the Star-Catcher Youths Build Dreams in Taichung Program, and creative achievements from the Hakka Affairs Committee, Aboriginal Affairs Committee, and others, totaling 11 different departments.
