After donating an ambulance last year, Dong Feng Construction Company donated another ambulance to the bureau on the 2nd, hoping to improve the quality and efficiency of pre-hospital emergency treatment. According to Deputy Director-general of Fire Bureau, Taichung City Government Chin-tsai Tseng, Fire Bureau ambulances have evolved from the role of transporting patients and the wounded to the hospital in the past to allowing EMTs to perform pre-hospital emergency treatment onboard, thereby significantly increasing the survivability and recovery rate of patients.
The ambulance turn over ceremony was held at Third Corps Emergency Medical Service Team Zhongshan Branch on the 2nd, where Deputy Director-general Tseng presented Dong Feng Construction Company with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of Mayor Chia-ling Lin in order to thank them for upholding the spirit of compassion and generosity. After donating an ambulance last year, the company donated another ambulance valued at NT$2.93 million to help the EMTs perform pre-hospital emergency treatment, in turn making Taichung City’s emergency treatment system more sophisticated.
According to Deputy Director-general Tseng, Taichung City’s population has risen to no. 2 in the country, and the number of emergency calls for Fire Bureau emergency treatment has also increased with the increasing population in various districts. Consequently, ambulances and emergency treatment equipment have becoming more important. The ambulance donated is equipped with comprehensive emergency treatment gears and parts, thus it will be assigned to the Zhongshan Branch in Taiping District to shoulder the responsibility of emergency treatment missions in Taiping and nearby areas.
The Fire Bureau appeals to the public to cherish valuable emergency treatment resources and maintain the quality of emergency care together. It is also hoped that private organizations can continue to donate related emergency treatment equipment to support pre-hospital emergency treatment.
