The Governor of Aomori Prefecture, Japan visited Taichung. Mayor Lin expects to deepen mutual exchange.

Taichung City Government signed MOU with Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture in December last year, opening a new chapter for mutual exchange in the aspects of industry, agriculture, education, and more. The Hot Spring Association of Aomori Prefecture also signed the Hot Spring Exchange Amicable Agreement with Taichung Hot Spring and Tourism Association, with the help of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, Taichung City Government. The Governor of Aomori Prefecture Shingo Mimura visited Taichung with a group led by him to discuss the matter of mutual exchange in tourism. Mayor Lin also invited Governor Mimura to visit Taichung next year to participate in Taichung World Flora Exposition.

Famous for its apple and produce, led by Governor Mimura, the delegates of Aomori Prefecture visited Mayor Lin Chia-lung of Japan. Mayor Lin wore the fruit outfit representing Taichung, and Governor Mimura wore the apple suit representing Aomori Prefecture to exchange ideas on tourism, industry, and more to symbolize the brotherhood between the cities. Mayor Lin also presented Lishan tea and teapot giftbox made by Zhao’s Kiln, the representative souvenirs of Taichung.

Mayor Lin expressed that today it was exactly one year after signing the MOU with Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture on December 14 when he visited it last year. During the past year, both cities exchanged frequently in the aspects of high school students’ graduation tour, visits of businesses, or direct chartered flights, achieving significantly. In addition the “fan-shaped Nabuta lantern” of Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture will also be exhibited in the Central Taiwan Lantern Festive in 2018, hoping to bring much excitement.

He mentioned that with the help of Tourism and Travel Bureau, Taichung City Government, the Hot Spring Association of Aomori Prefecture signed the Hot Spring Exchange Amicable Agreement with Taichung Hot Spring and Tourism Association to greatly enhance tourism in both cities. In the next year, there will be three major activities in Taichung: the Taiwan-Japan Tourism Summit held in May, the Taichung International Dance Parade & Festival held in November, and the Taichung World Flora Exposition. By then, Mayor Lin welcome Governor Mimura to visit Taichung, expecting to promote further development in Taiwan-Japan relations.

Governor Mimura said both cities had good interrelations on education, tourism, and industry. Today the boding of friendly relations in the hot spring business was a major achievement. He felt glad about it. The quality of hot springs in Aomori Prefecture is excellent, and he hopes hot spring businesses in both cities can exchange further and learn from each other in experiences in operation or innovative thinking. In January next year, there will be 38 high school students visiting Aomori Prefecture in Japan. He believes the exchange between students is very important. Expressing his gratitude to Mayor Lin for his help and support, he expects they can deep their mutual relations in the future.

The Tourism and Travel Bureau, Taichung City Government expressed that Taichung is active in promoting its hot spring business and to connect with the international arena. Since 2015, it has conducted exchanges with famous international hot spring resorts. In the past 3 years, its has signed the agreement on the exchange of tourism and hot spring vacation with Yufuin Hot Spring and Beppu Hot Spring in Ōita Prefecture, Misasa Hot Spring in Tottori Prefecture, Gero Hot Spring in Gifu Prefecture in Japan, and Yuseong Hot Spring in Daejeon City in South Korea to market hot spring tour internationally.

Luo Jin-zhou, the Director of Taichung Hot Spring Tourism Association, and 杉澤廉晴, the Director of the Hot Spring Association of Aomori Prefecture signed the “Revival of International Hot Spring Tourism and Amicable Agreement, witnessed by 三上洋輝, the Head of the Department of Tourism Strategy, and 中村崇, Deputy Counselor of the Tourism Bureau, Aomori Prefecture. In the future, they will share information on hot spring, and explore visitors together.

Director-general Chen pointed out that Taichung signed the MOU with Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture in December last year, building up the foundation for mutual exchange and friendship cooperation. Both parties have come to many cooperation projects. The“fan-shaped Nabuta lantern” of Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture will be exhibited in the Central Taiwan Lantern Festival 2018. In the Good Hot Spring, Hot Spring Season 2017, the “International Hot Spring Passport” earned support from 81 hot spring hotels in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, who cooperated to promote the hot spring tourism.
