Mayor Lin Awarded Research and Rescue Dogs in the Celebration of 119 Fireman Festival

To thank firefighters, voluntary firefighters, the women's fire prevention team, and the rescue team for their contributions, the Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government organized the Celebration of 119 Fireman Festival today (January 16). Mayor Lin Chia-lung awarded excellent firefighters and voluntary firefighters to thank them for their contributions to disaster relief, fire prevention, and first aid.

Mayor Lin attended the celebration with Director of the Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government Hsiao Huan-chang to award excellent firefighters and praise Lai Yu-no for shooting 7 microfilms during this service. Three of the four search and rescue dogs of the Fire Bureau were certified by IRO and MRT and awarded “Four Stars on One Horizontal Bar” (inspector) by Mayor Lin. The other one was certified by IRO and awarded “Two Stars on One Horizontal Bar”. In the future, the four searches and rescue dogs will support disaster relief.

The Fire Bureau also presented a number of awards to Taichung City Government, including ISO-9001 and ISQM, 2017 National Golden Award for Architecture-Outstanding Public Building and Disaster Prevention and Relief Award, and TAF certification for the Evidence Identification Laboratory.

Mayor Lin indicated that Taichung City Government organized the Celebration of 119 Fireman Festival to thank firefighters, voluntary firefighters, volunteers, and the women's fire prevention team for their contributions. Through public praise, the Fire Bureau has obtained the certification of ISO-9001 and ISQM, making it the first certified fire agency in Asia; in addition, search and rescue dogs were used to increase the capacity for rescue in mountain areas and internationally through their sensitive smell.
