The 2018 Taichung European Film Festival commences today until May 12, with 10 films and documentaries from 6 EU countries featuring female consciousness and gender equality topic. Taiwan exclusive premier at Taichung Shin Kong Cinema and TARITSI ARCHI of UK film “Just Charlie”, Spanish documentary “Sara Baras, All Her Voices”, and French documentary “A La Recherche Des Femmes Chefs”. On the press conference today (4), Mayor Lin Chia-lung and First Lady Liao Wan-ru encourage people to go to cinema for different point of views and subjects.

Hosted by TAECCI (Taichung Association of European Creative & Cultural Industries), the “7th Taichung European Film Festival 2018” is under Taichung City Government’s assistance and Information Bureau and TFDF (Taichung Film Development Foundation)’s co-organization. The theme of this year “Elle” are featured with 10 films and documentaries from 6 EU countries featuring female consciousness and gender equality topic. The press conference is held today (4) at Taichung Shiyakusho.

Mayor Lin Chia-lung, First Lady Liao Wan-ru, Madeleine Majorenko the Head of EEAS (European External Action Service), Deputy Director-General of Dept. of European Affairs of the Ministry Chen Hsin-hsin, IETCPO representative Donato Scioscioli, Information Bureau Director Zhuo Guan-ting joined together at the conference for the commencing of Taichung European Film Festival

This is the 7th installment of Taichung European Film Festival and is running well as always with very quick ticket sales. Movies transcend boundaries, communicating with Taichung, a free society which is becoming more important a taiwan movie city, through movie culture. Under the finance of local government, Wufeng “Taichung Studios” and Shuinan “Taichung Film Institute” are under development for a movie industry friendly city, said Mayor Lin.

Mayor Lin mentioned that the 4th Taichung International Animation Festival (TIAF) this year is growing better, with confirmation of “Taiwan Animation Museum” to be founded in Taichung, the City is embarking on the industrial center for ACG (Animation, Comics, and Games).

First Lady Liao acknowledged the profound European culture being seen in Taichung in the form of movies, and encourages people to go to cinema for different point of views and subjects.

For the three years living in Taiwan, says Ms. Majorenko, the Head of EEAS, she enjoyed it very much. This year the topic of the film “female consciousness and gender equality” are presented in a varied genres such as comedy, documentary, etc. there is something in the movie for everyone to enjoy.

Taichung is a human culture city matching the European life pace, and the best way to find each other, is through culture. Movie, is the fastest way of all. Taichung people are blessed to have such great environment and professional team to a successful event, says Deputy Director-General of EAOM Ms. Chen.

Chairman of TAECCI Lin Jin-shi indicates that the main objective of Taichung European Film Festival is to found a platform for the exchange of multicultural art between Taichung and Europe through movies. Europe is the Europe is the birthplace of the value of gender Equality Movement, from Malala of Pakistan to global network, female shows high altitude of self-awakening, courage and action in professional field, relationship, art and culture, and social movement.
Information Bureau mentioned that with the many years of promotion by TAECC, annual Taichung European Film Festival introduces plural themes and genres of European movies to our citizen with diverse value and movie experiences. The much anticipated event even features a special film festival founded by public organization, a truly devoted spirit.

TFDF has renovated old building in Central District to open a space dedicated to film, art and culture at No.73 Zhongshan Rd. The project, serving as a base for the promotion of art films and independent production of film and television works, expects its grand opening this October, empowers the old town area the energy to new things, said Information Bureau.
This year the selected 10 productions are based on genders and human rights subjects, how women facing lives and values. The 10 movies are German “Heart of Stone”, UK “Just Charlie”, Belgic “Melody”, Italian “Emma”, Spanish “Sara Baras, All Her Voices”, and 5 French “Au revoir là-haut”, “Dalida”, “After Love”, “Fanny's Journey”, and “A La Recherche Des Femmes Chefs”,
