Taichung Gaomei Wetland is a hot sightseeing spot with a lot of visitors. In order to maintain the traffic order, the traffic control will start from 14:00 to 20:00 and no entering of cars or motorcycles. It was planned to kick off on 14th April (Sat). Also, the parking lots surrounding the area will be expanded to provide more parking space on demands. People can park their cars there first, then take the free shuttle buses from the parking lots to reach the Wetland so the tourism quality and the touring experiences of the visitors can be improved. Director of Transportation Bureau, Yi-chuan Wang, went to check the traffic control on site today and found the operations running quite well. The total passengers by shuttle buses reached 2160 on the first day, replacing around 800 cars of traffic flow so the shuttle service was smooth.

Director Wang of Transportation Bureau went to Gaomei Wetland today to check if the traffic control was well implemented. He took the shuttle bus from the parking lot to Gaomei Wetland and explained why the City Government decided to have the traffic control to the passengers on the bus. Director Wang said, the City Government planed to implement the traffic control on Meiti Street from 14:00 to 20:00 and no entrance of cars or motorcycles during weekend and national holidays to maintain the traffic order in the Gaomei Wetland area. In order to resolve the traffic mess due to the insufficient parking space, the City Government has built two new parking lots, the first and the second parking lots on Sanshun Road and Chungyi Road, respectively. The newly opened parking lots will provide 550 parking spaces for the compact cars, 54 for vans and 210 for motorcycles.

Director Wang mentioned, the shuttle service will be provided by the City Government for free and scheduled as cruise buses in 10 minuets of interval to provide inbound and outbound services from the first and second parking lots to Gaomei Wetland during holidays. And the buses will be added depending on the passenger flow and the services will continue until 19:30 for passenger transportation. Also, the Transportation Bureau has planned to provide another 3 buses of step entrance to serve the people in need, like the handicapped people or the elderly to ensure everyone will enjoy to visit Gaomei Wetland easily.

Director Wang explained, the land surrounding Meiti Street belongs to National Property Administration so it’s not allowed to build the parking lot on. However, there were some people using the land to provide the paid parking service illegally without permission, it’s not allowed and would be fined if they were reported to the Transportation Bureau. Please don’t violate the laws for earning money by using the public land as parking lots without permission or you will be ticketed for NT$3,000 to NT$15,000 of fine.

Besides, the Transportation Bureau has completed the signs of i-Bike and the shuttle service from the first and the second parking lots to Gaomei Wetland to provide the detailed transportation information for the tourists. Therefore, people can successfully and smoothly arrive at Gaomei Wetland to enjoy the beautiful scenery there.
