In order to "focus on economic growth in the post-pandemic era," Taichung City Government will launch "the 2nd Taichung Shopping Festival" in July that is scheduled to last for two months. This year's Festival will be longer in time and with more participation of both physical and online stores such as PChome, ETMall and TV shopping platforms. Consumers now can shop with clicks without limitations of time and space. Additionally, for the friendly consideration of foreigners, this year descriptions will be given in both Chinese and English to expand business opportunities of the Festival.
The Economic Development Bureau today (18th) organized the press conference for the "2nd Taichung Shopping Festival" hosted by top sales host of TV shopping, Si Rong, who introduced Taichung's famous produce with Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen. Mayor Lu also in person announced the voting results of the main visual design and slogan of the 2nd Shopping Festival. The winner of the main visual design went to "the Surprise of Opening the Gift Box" that features the gift box of Taichung's famous produce while the winner of the slogan is "Taichung's Shopping Festival Featuring Five Goods."
Mayor Lu said last year in the "1st Taichung Shopping Festival," the Taichung City Government attracted the participation of 20,000 shops and more than 200,000 users downloaded the app for lucky draws with more than NT$2.5 billion of sales generated. This year the target is to "surpass last years' sales" and in addition to shopping at physical stores, to respond to the pandemic control measures, consumers are encouraged to shop online or via TV shopping platforms. Taichung is a city for gourmet foods, shopping, recreation and staying; when shopping, there are also chances to win big prizes. Everyone is welcome to visit Taichung.
Mayor Lu also said last year's first prize was a luxurious house worth of ten million and now it is under renovation. This year, there are more big prizes and consumers will not be disappointed. This year's Festival is planned for two months and again, cell phones will be used to register consumption amounts. The higher the amount registered, the higher the chance to win prizes in lucky draws. Each week there will be a round of lucky draws and the grand prize will be given away in the final week of the Festival.
The Economic Development Bureau pointed out that in this year's Festival, the number of physical stores participating will be increased to 30,000 and two large electronic platforms in Taiwan, "ETMall" and "PChome" will also take a part by setting up "the Designated Area of Taichung" to incorporate the six themes of the Festival and to launch Taichung's strictly selected tourism itineraries, home cuisines, and quality produce. With a few clicks, products will be delivered to your door.
According to the Economic Development Bureau, there are more than 8,000 people participating in the voting of main visual design and slogan of the 2nd Taichung Shopping Festival. Finally, the winner of the main visual design went to the gift box of Taichung's famous produce, "the Surprise of Opening the Gift Box" featuring beautiful colors, famous local produce of suncakes and bubble milk tea and landmarks like the Mid-Lake Pavilion, National Taichung Theater and the Luce Chapel. Voters believed that this design can best present the Taichung Shopping Festival.
Additionally, the winning slogan was "Taichung Shopping Festival with Five Goods" referring to gourmet foods, fun, shopping, bargain and the good life in Taichung. The "Five Goods" in Taiwanese also means "celebration."
The Economic Development Bureau also mentioned that the 2nd Taichung Shopping Festival will be launched in July and to provide more store discounts, the Taichung City Government is now recruiting the participation of more quality shops and at present, more than 12,000 stores have indicated their participation. Seminars on business recruitment will be given to attract the participation of more department stores, tour operators, business districts and mobile payment platforms to make Taichung become the most popular fun shopping designation this summer. Additionally, Councilman, Ran Ling-Hsuan, Liu Shi-Chou, Chen Cheng-Hsien, Change Yen-Tung, and the representative of Vice Speaker of City Council Yen Li-Min also attended the conference.
