With the emergence of the popularity of domestic tours, the Tourism and Travel Bureau of the Taichung City Government today (the 17th) held the press conference of the "2020 Taichung Hot Spring Festival" at Freshfield Taichung in Wuzi. Director General of the Bureau, Lin Shiau-chi, attended this conference and worked together with local business districts and operators of the hot spring industry to develop Taichung's tourism by inviting visitors to Taichung for its famous hot springs!
According to Director General of the Bureau, Lin Shiau-chi, Taichung is famous for its mountains and water as well as hot springs including the famous four in Guguang, Dakeng, Wuzi and Dongshi. Sodium bicarbonate hot springs are known for the mild massage function on the skin, also nicknamed as "the beauty hot springs." In order to promote Taichung's hot springs, the Taichung City Government each year organizes the events of "the Taichung Hot Spring Festival." With the theme of "Hot Spring Encounter," this year's festival features local hot spring stories, produce, gourmet foods, natural sceneries, fun of mountain hiking and an introduction to the talent of community schools to allow visitors to get to know more about local cultural elements and build Taichung into a city of happiness in the post-pandemic era with its resource of hot springs.
Performance of the YOURART Philharmonic Orchestra marked the beginning of today's press conference. The well-known song, "the Girl at 18 is Like a Flower," symbolizes the popularity of the Festival and the invitation to the public to get to know Taichung well. Attendees included Councilman of the Taichung City, Liu Shi-Chou, representatives of legislators, Johnny Chiang and Chen Po-Wei, representatives of councilmen, Zan Ling-Hsung, Chu Nuan-Ying, and Wu Chiung-Hua, Director of Wuzi District, Chen Chia-Jung, Director of Dadu District, Bai Er-Mei, representative of various district offices, community leaders, representatives of the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Park of the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Taichung City Hot Spring Tourism Association, the B&B Association, President of the Guguang Community Development Association of Heping District and other business representatives. With the cooperation of the government and the industry, various incentives were introduced to incorporate into the popular Taichung Shopping Festival, easy and safe tour programs and the triple stimulus vouchers to invite visitors to Taichung and to enjoy the hot springs and happy tours here.
Director General Lin then said like hot springs, music can relax our body and mind. This Festival especially incorporates with local story theaters and concerts of Guguang by presenting arts and cultural elements such as singing stories, indigenous dance, contemporary and classical music to bring the touching and happy moments to visitors. You are welcome to spend your holiday in the hot spring sites of Taichung for the lively atmosphere and gourmet foods as well as high class music and arts performances.
The Bureau said the Taichung City Government especially invited famous performing music groups to the four events including the YOURART Quartet String Orchestra in Dakeng, Taichung, on August 22nd, TRF in Wuxi on August 29th, Yen Shuhan Brass Quintet in Dongshi on September 12th and the Atayal Taiwan First Nation M-yu Dancers at the closing ceremonies on the night of September 19th in Guguang. Through creative songs, dances and dramas, the background and touching moments of Guguang Hot Spring will be re-told. These four events also include creative painting contests. Visitors of all ages are welcome to paint their creative works abouyt the hot springs when visiting the sites.
These events are scheduled from August 17th to September 30th and the "Deep Breathing and LOHAS Tours in Taichung" and "Mountain Brave Hotel" programs are also launched. Visitors can reserve local guides for their hot spring tours and enjoy discounts for hotel rooms and souvenirs. The ROC citizens can make use of subsidies of domestic tours when staying in hot spring sites in Taichung. Extra values will be received for spending the triple stimulus vouchers. For an accumulated consumption amount exceeding NT$500 before the end of August, a consumer can enter lucky draw events of the Taichung Shopping Festival for chances to win a luxury house, cars and cash prizes.
