The water supply of Taichung’s 7 districts will be partially suspended for 47 hours on March 21
To proceed with the “40,000-cubic-meter Juxing Reservoir”, “Railway Green Corridor Backup Pipes” and “Liyutan Water Treatment Plant Second Pipe” projects, Taiwan Water Corporation is expected to suspend the water supply from 10 a.m. on March 21 (Tuesday) to 9 a.m. on March 23 (Thursday), totally 47 hours. All citizens are reminded to store water in advance. Taichung City Government Economic Development Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the Bureau) expressed that the water-suspended areas included the East District, South District, North District, Beitun District, Taiping District, Dali District and Wuri District in part, expected to affect around 281,882 households; and areas with a lowered water pressure included the East District, North District, Beitun District and Wuri District in part, expected to affect around 18,022 households.
The Bureau indicated that the water-suspended areas included the Wuri District (east of the railway, south of National Highway No.1), South District (east and south of the railway), East District (east and south of the railway), North District (east of the railway), Beitun District (east of the railway), Dali District (whole) and Taiping District (whole); and the areas with a lowered water pressure included the East District, North District, Beitun District (South of Dongshan Road; west of the railway; east of Jinhua Road and Beitun Road; and north of Jinhua Road) and Wuri District (south of Dali River and east of Wu River).
The Bureau expressed that the Fourth District Administration office of Taiwan Water Corporation planned to set up 119 temporary water supply stations, which may refer to Taiwan Water Corporation’s website at https://www.water.gov.tw/dist4 for more details. Taiwan Water Corporation will also notify neighborhood representatives, local elected representatives, large water users and general hospital of water suspended areas. During the water suspension period, citizens can also check the water supply suspension details and restoration status by dialing the telephone number of local Taiwan Water Corporation office or the free hot service line 1910. Citizens are also welcome to join Taiwan Water Corporation’s official LINE account (https://line.me/ti/p/@586zvzut) to receive instant water suspension notifications.
The Bureau reminded that the power of the water pump must be switched off during the water suspension period to avoid excessive engine revving, which can result in a damage of the motor or cause a fire, thereof. After the water supply is restored, it is a must to “open the exhaust valve to exhaust air” to avoid air binding, which can result in the failure of drawing water. Besides, as the air exhaust process must be carried out section by section during the water transportation and when allocating the water supply, areas at the end of the pipes or in lanes or alleys will have the water supply restored 2 hours later. All citizens are reminded to store water in advance. Furthermore, Taichung City Government and Taiwan Water Corporation already established an online instant reporting platform, which will operate during the water suspension period, to manage the engineering progress and water restoration status at all times; and ensure that the project will be completed on time in order to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
during the transportation of the water and when allocating the water the water supply is restored,
The Bureau reminded all citizens to save water and that the reclaimed or underground water might be used as an alternative free cleaning water. In addition, Taichung City also provides secondary water resources from its 9 water reclamation centers and 95 new construction sites to lower the consumption of tap water. For more details about the water saving measures and related information, please go to the “Anti-drought Zone” of the Bureau’s website at https://www.economic.taichung.gov.tw/1627020/Nodelist.
