Last year, Taichung City successfully promoted the “home of honey peaches is Lishan” brand image. This year’s harvest of honey peaches has already reached the market, and the Taichung City government has directed the Heping District community center in holding a promotional event for honey peaches and Lishan tea. The diversified event will take place on the weekends of August 12 and 19 at the plaza in front of the Lishan Visitor’s Center and Fushou Mountain Farm. Mayor Lin Jialong stated that the climate of Lishan produces quality peaches befitting the title of “King of Fruits.” The peaches are plump, sweet, juicy, fragrant, and melt in your mouth. Taichung produces over 60% of Taiwan’s peaches. We welcome everyone’s support and purchases, as well as coming out to have tea and enjoy the weekend.

The “2017 Lishan Peach and Tea Ceremony press conference was held on August 8 in the Sichuan Hall of the City Government Building on Taiwan Boulevard. Mayor Lin was accompanied by the chairman of the Indigenous Peoples Commission, Mayaw Kumud, Bureau of Agriculture chief Wang Junxiong, Bureau of Tourism chief Chen Sheng Shan, and Heping District mayor Lin Jiantang. Also in attendance were legislator Zhangliao Wanjian, city council members Hong Jinfu, Zhu Yuanhong, Yang Dianzhong, Chen Chengtian, Liu Shulan, Qiu Suzhen, Jiang Zhaoguo, He Mincheng, Liu Shizhou, vice-chair of the Heping District Representative Committee Luo Jinyu, Xueba National Park Management Office chief Zhong Mingshan, Wuling Farm head Yuan Tuqiang, and Fushou Mountain Farm chief Wu Jiachang.

Wearing a fruit costume, Mayor Lin stated that peaches are both beautiful and taste like happiness, earning their title of “King of Fruits.” He also stated that the climate and temperature difference of the Taichung, Heping, and Lishan area is just right to produce quality honey peaches that are “plump, sweet, juicy, fragrant, and melt-in-your-mouth.” Taichung produces over 60% of Taiwan’s honey peaches, and Mayor Lin hopes to promote Taichung’s honey peaches to the rest of Taiwan, and the world.

On August 8, Father’s Day, Mayor Lin wished all the fathers in the world a “happy Father’s Day!” and invited everyone to purchase Lishan honey peaches, and taste a flavor you are sure to love. Regardless if it is for yourself or a gift, you can still experience local culture and tourism. Thank you for all your promotion.

Heping District Mayor Lin stated that the “2017 Lishan Peaches and Tea Ceremony” series of events will take place on the weekends of August 12 and 19. The “Lishan Peach Series” opening ceremony will take place at the plaza in front of the Lishan Visitor’s Center, and will include Atayal song and dance performances, the “Second Annual Joyous Peach Hike,” honey peach themed food tating, games, and a drawing with many prizes.

On the 19, there will be a Lishan tea tasting at Fushou Farms featuring 20 teas at 4 tea stations: “Chinese tea, Zen tea, Aboriginal tea, and fashionable tea.” There will also be a special tea ceremony and exquisite refreshments, flower arranging, calligraphy, and music, giving each tea lover an unforgettable Lishan spring tea feast experience. All are invited.

Vice chair Luo of the Heping District Representative Committee approves of the city government’s promotion of quality produce, and states that he grew up on Lishan himself, and was very happy to witness the creation of a channel for honey peaches, and the promotion of the “home of honey peaches is Lishan” brand image.

The Heping District Community Center stated that honey peaches have been harvested, starting in June, from Lishan, Zhiliang, Jiayang, and Huanshan. In order to support fruit producers and promote quality produce, the community center is holding a honey peach and Lishan tea promotional event under the direction of the city government. The community center worked in tandem with Wuling Farms on May 13 to hold a specialty produce exposition at the farm guest service center plaza. The event combined lodging and tea leaves discounts. The Lishan Visitor’s Center also introduced a 12% discount on tea leaf purchases before the end of August.

Additionally, this year’s events also incorporated elements of public service. Working with the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the events also promote the importance of cherishing water resources. Visitors need only bring 5 receipts from the July, August period to the plaza in front of the Lishan Visitor’s Center on August 12, or the Fushou Mountain Farm on August 19, and they may receive a honey peach gift at the service counter, while supplies last. All receipts will be given to charity. For more information, please visit the official event page at (https://www.facebook.com/lisanpeach/), or call us at 04-23728865.
