Taichung World Flora Exposition will be launched on 3rd November this year so no less than 20 thousand of volunteers will be in need to participate in the related activities. Especially, tour guide volunteers are the first line of personnel to interact with the people as the ambassadors of the events. Teacher Nie-shan Chen working in Shalu Elementary School has registered to be the tour guide volunteer in addition to being the guide speaker of Flora Expo. She said, to be a volunteer can enrich our lives and make us happier so she’s advocating the citizens to join in the group of Flora Expo volunteers to create the wonderful experiences of Taichung Flora Expo festival with everyone.

Teacher Nie-shan Chen is not just a teacher in the elementary school because she is responsible for the tour guide as a volunteer in National Museum of Natural Science. She has accumulated with 8 years of volunteer experience by now. As the World Flora Expo will be held in Taichung this year, there is a tremendous need for the tour guide volunteers to introduce the themes, features and facilities of Taichung Flora Expo to the visitors. Therefore, Nie-shan Chen has dedicated to being the Taichung Flora Expo speaker and tour guide volunteer.

Nie-shan Chen said, Taichung Flora Expo is a world class event and each Flora Expo tour guide volunteer is the first line staff to interact with the people. With the volunteers’ explanation, the wonderful value of the harmonious development hooked with theme of「Exploring GNP」as Green for Green Productivity, Nature for Natural ecology and People for Cultural and lives will be learned by more people.

The volunteers play the very important role for making the international event successful, for example, 70 thousand volunteers were supporting the Olympic Games in London while 100 thousand volunteers supporting the Olympic Games in Beijing. And for Taichung World Flora Exposition, it’s targeted to recruit 20 thousand volunteers to support the Flora Expo and 1,563 tour guide volunteers have been enrolled by now.

During the tour guide volunteer for Flora Expo training course, Nie-shan Chen found each of the volunteers shares the same goal though they are all from different territories, it’s to bring the Flora Expo a big success. Among the volunteers, one volunteer group from the Siraya National Scenic Area in Tainan come to join in and become one of the Flora Expo volunteers so Teacher Chen was inspired to register for being the Flora Expo tour guide volunteer. She said, as one of the citizens in Taichung should take the opportunity to make the effort to contribute to the hometown.

Nie-shan Chen said, providing volunteer services has not only made her feel happier but also enrich her teaching activities. It’s a kind of uncountable value she can imagine. As this Flora Expo will be held in Taichung, it’s definitely a great opportunity for the citizens in the city; she encourage the citizens to take the chance to join in to be the Flora Expo volunteers and make themselves to know the land they are living on better to bring the wonderful value of life to themselves.
