In order to promote cashless payment in the commercial districts, Taichung City Government Economic Development Bureau organizes “Go Shopping Fun with Cashless Transaction in Taichung Commercial Districts” event that takes place in four major commercial districts, including Yizhong Commercial District, Tianjin Road Clothing Outlet, Taiping Shuxiao Commercial District, and WuQuan Parkway Commercial District. The event begins today and will end on October 31st. During the event, stores in the commercial districts provide customers with great deals for cashless payment, such as 10 percent off, gifts for a certain amount of purchase, limited time offer, and so on. Customers can also participate in sweepstakes with more than 200 prizes. The event enables customers to experience the convenience and great offer of cashless payment.

The event promotion press conference was held today (5th) at Taichung City Government, and different stores from Taichung City’s commercial districts were invited to exhibit their high-quality goods. Director General of Taichung City Government Economic Development Bureau, Yiaozhi Lu, mobile payment providers, and many commercial district representatives attended the press conference.

According to Taichung City Government Economic Development Bureau, “Go Shopping Fun with Cashless Transaction in Taichung Commercial Districts” contains a series of events that invite the four major business districts, including Yizhong Commercial District, Tianjin Road Clothing Outlet, Taiping Shuxiao Commercial District, and WuQuan Parkway Commercial District, to provide great deals for cashless payment, such as 10 percent off, gifts for a certain amount of purchase, limited time offer, and so on. Also, during the day when each commercial district has special events, the best ideals, such as 50 percent off for certain goods, buy one get one free, gifts for a certain amount of purchase, earning reward points for raffle draw, and so on.

During the event (August 31 to September 15), customers who shop at Taiping Shuxiao Commercial District can earn reward points through purchase to receive the qualification for raffle draw, and certain stores will offer buy-one-get-one-free on September 15. WuQuan Parkway Commercial District will provide the offer of earning reward points for limited gifts during the event (September 10 to November 9), and customers can enjoy the offer of purchasing limited discounted tickets to experience exotic food on November 10. Taichung City Government Economic Development Bureau pointed out that mobile payment is the current trend of consumption to make shopping and purchasing more convenient. Taichung City Government also actively assists Taichung City commercial districts in providing mobile payment services or other more convenient payment services. Through hosting the “Go Shopping Fun with Cashless Transaction in Taichung Commercial Districts “ event, business operators in the commercial districts will understand more about how to take advantage of mobile payment to provide customers with diverse methods of payment.

Business operators in the commercial districts said that they are glad Taichung City Government actively provides different cashless payment providers to let them choose an optimal mobile payment plan as well as offering commercial district cooperation project to improve their use of mobile payment significantly. Through offering great deals along with cashless payment to customers, Taichung City Government hopes to encourage customers to get used to cashless payment transactions.

Mobile payment providers that participated in this event include not only the three major mobile payment platforms but also Taiwan’s mobile payment providers, such as Pi, O’Pay, and Easy Card. It is expected that this event would improve local consumption and enable the general public to experience various payment tools, which further creates a new image for digital commercial districts.
