On July 10th, the 2005 sister city exchange students will head off to Tacoma City in Washington State, USA. On July 4th, Mayor Jason Hu presented them with commemoration flags and wished them all the best at the start of their journey. Mayor used words such as, “just do it, be ready, follow me, be happy, enjoy” and others to encourage them. He hopes that they will grasp this opportunity to use their English language skills, and be ready at all times when good opportunities arise, and be ready to demonstrate their pride and self confidence. Mayor Hu especially reminded all the students who are heading to our sister city that “English is not just for learning, English is for using.” He wants the students to make use of this opportunity to use their English language skills, to make use of whatever they have learnt because the more you try, the more you learn. He also suggested that the students ought to “be ready” at all times, just like the battery ad, “be ever ready”, so that whenever opportunities arise, they will be ready for it.
