The Xi Yuan High School Baseball Team has won the 2005 Junior League Championship title, bringing back the title to Taiwan after a five-year absence. The Junior League Team that has been formed for three years now did well too, winning third place. Upon hearing the good news, supporters of these teams celebrated their victory with a tea party on August 23.

Representing Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu, Deputy Mayor Xiao Jia-Qi congratulated the team on their success, and presented them with a “Light of Taichung” certificate. Deputy Mayor Xiao expressed that in the team’s six-year history, they have had excellent results. Xi Yuan High School not only does well in sport, they also have a history of great academic results. Deputy Mayor Xiao promised that the city government will make careful plans for the Wen Zhong 35 allotments, building a middle school training center there, as well as giving it the government’s fully support financially. Deputy Mayor Xiao also expressed that there are three schools in Taichung which have done exceptionally well in sporting events, they are Zhong Ming High School’s basketball team, Hui Wen High School’s soccer team and Xi Yuan High School’s baseball team.
