2005 Taichung International Car Free Day(2005-09-02)

In response to the global effort at saving energy and protecting the environment, the Taichung city government will hold the 2005 Taichung International Car Free Day on September 17. Applications are open from now till September 17, citizens can get application forms and details from any Taichung city McDonald’s and various bicycle shops. Participating citizens simply fill out the forms and pay the NT$100 fee, and they will receive a free commemorative t shirt, free McDonald’s breakfast and a lucky draw ticket. The organizers are urging companies and various organizations to join in this activity.


The organizers expressed that Taichung city has bicycle paths throughout the city, and these “City Green Corridors” are rarely seen in other parts of Taiwan. The 2005 Taichung International Car Free Day includes the “Bicycle Month” stamp collection tour activity. Organizers have provided various Taichung city bicycle shops with “Bicycle Month Passports” and detailed cycling maps for anyone interested. From Taiwan Railway’s Tai Yuan Station till the Lin Yin Bicycle path, six stamp collection points have been set up, so citizens can collect these stamps along the way while they cycle. With five stamps on these “Bicycle Month Passports”, place these passports in the official lucky draw box on September 17 and you will be eligible for great prizes such as the trendy i-pod and bicycles.
