Taichung city mayor Jason Hu connected from overseas on the evening of the 14th to report on his latest trip to China. Mayor Hu expressed that for the trade show press conference to be held the following day in Shanghai, Wan Yi Tofu started making a tower out of their tofu products since 6pm that evening. This "Pearl of the Orient Tower" will be used to market specialty products from Taichung.
Concerning the business of bringing pandas to Taiwan, Mayor Hu said that he already spoke to Chairman Lian last night, and that Chairman Lian was supportive of the idea of bringing the pandas to Taichung. Chairman Lian also told Mayor Hu that since he will be arriving in SzeChuan ChengDu the following day, he would give the pandas a hug on behalf of Mayor Hu so as to begin promoting a good relationship with the pandas. Mayor Hu stressed that the main target of his trip to China is an effort to bring pandas to Taiwan and share this joy with other cities and not to fight for this privilege.
