The Jazz Festival Attracts Thousands at the People 's Square(2005-10-22)

The 2005 Taichung Jazz Festival commenced on October 22 at 7pm at the People's Square. Attracting thousands of Jazz music fans. Taichung city mayor Jason Hu expressed that Taichung's cultural festivities are becoming bigger and better each year, becoming a vibrant city of culture. Mayor Hu said that the Taichung Jazz Festival has become an even that both local and foreign residents look forward to. Not only have foreign residents in Taichung come for this event, even those who live in Taipei have come all the way to Taichung to take part.


The first act at the Jazz Music Festival was the talented jazz female singer Peng Jing-Hui, American jazz drummer Lewis Nash with his trio, and the internationally famous jazz trumpeter Jeremy Pelt. Together they presented a fabulous top grade jazz music performance.


The 2005 Taichung Jazz Music Festival takes place between October 22 and November 6, every Saturday and Sunday from 3pm till 10pm at the People’s Square on JingGuo Parkway. Over 30 groups of top jazz musicians from Taiwan and overseas will be performing. There will also be a series of jazz related events and activities such as piano competitions and seminars, guaranteeing a great time for all the jazz music fans of Taiwan.
