Closing ceremony of the Taichung International Jazz Festival, local and international jazz musicians gather to perform(2005-11-06)

The closing ceremony of the 2005 Taichung International Jazz Festival took place on November 6 at People’s Square. The Taichung city government invited jazz performers from Taiwan and around the world to perform. Local performers include singer Pan Yue-Yun, drummer Huang Rui-Feng, and international bassist Lin Wei-Sheng. Performers from American and Europe include Sheila Jordan and the Bugge Wesseltoft Trio. Taichung city mayor Jason Hu was also present to enjoy the fantastic evening of jazz music with the people of Taichung.

Pan Yue-Yun had just successfully completed her solo concerts when she was invited by Taichung city’s Cultural Bureau to take part in the closing ceremony concert of the Taichung International Jazz Festival. First she sang the song “Thank You For Loving Me”, which was filled with jazz and blues flavor, then she also sang a few English golden oldies to put everyone in the jazz mood. Pan Yue-Yun was followed by jazz singer Sheila Jordan, winner of the Lil Hardin Armstrong contribution to jazz award. Sheila Jordan’s great voice and superb style won over the audience. Then came the Bugge Wesseltoft Trio from Europe. With a unique futuristic concept of performing jazz their own way, their music took the audience on a wonderful musical journey.
