Meal delivery service station opens on November 24, providing caring service for the elderly who live alone in Taichung City(2005-11-24)

Taichung City's Private Gan Lin Social Welfare Charity Foundation officially opened their meal delivery service station on the afternoon of November 24. It was also their 6th anniversary celebration. Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu and Social Affairs Bureau Chief Liao Jing-Zhi were both present. Mayor Hu expressed that he was very grateful that charitable organizations do such a wonderful job of taking care of the elderly, keeping them happy and healthy.

Mayor Hu thanked the charitable organizations generosity. A caring community helps make the society a better place to be, and it is hoped that Taichung City will become a model city of love.

The meal delivery service motto is based on a concept of elderly people growing old healthily and locally. This service takes care of elderly people's special dietary needs, as well as helps solve many families take care of the problem of providing lunch for their elderly relatives at home. During the meal delivery, service representatives will also pay attention to the elderly people's living conditions, give assistance or report any emergencies. Their target audience is elderly Taichung residents over the age of 65, and those who are registered as disabled or are middle to low income earner households. Service is provided between Mondays and Fridays (lunch). The service is free for middle to low-income earner households (must be registered in Taichung City) and NT$65 per meal for others.
