The 4th Terry Fox Charity Run will commence on November 27 at 7pm from the plaza opposite the plot designated for the National Music Hall. This run will attract almost 6000 participants. Spokesperson for this activity, Olympic gold medallist Chen Shi-Xin encouraged everyone to run a little more and do a bit more for charity. Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu complimented that all participating citizens are kindhearted people. He also represented the people of Taichung in donating the NT$1,800,000 that was raised from this run to the China Medical University Hospital. China Medical University Hospital Chief Lin Zheng-Jie represented the hospital in accepting this donation, and he expressed that the hospital will use this money for cancer research. The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei representative Mr. Joseph Kok Hong thanked the Taichung City Government for assisting the organization of the Terry Fox Run, and to raise people’s awareness of cancer research. Mr. Hong also presented gifts of gold coins to the organizer and co-organizer to thank them for their effort.

Terry Fox passed away in 1981 from bone cancer. During the last two years of his life, he raised Canadian people's awareness in cancer research by running across Canada with one false limb. His charitable spirit struck a chord amongst many, not only causing a stir in Canada but also across the globe. At the moment, there are almost 52 countries with over 300 cities' people participating in this annual event to carry on Terry's dream.
