The wedding of the century:Taichung Sun Cake and Yuchih Assam Tea tied the knot on December 11(2005-12-11)

Taichung's well known Sun Cake Prince just got married on December 11. Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu, Nantou County Governor elect Li Chao-Qing (currently Nantou City Mayor), Yuchih Township Mayor Liao Xue-Hui and other honored guests accompanied the Sun Cake Prince to Taichung Park's Hu-Xin Pagoda, where he married the Assam Tea Princess from Nantou's Yuchih. This "Wedding of the Century" took place at Taichung Park, with free tasting of Taiwan's largest Sun Cake, and all-you-can-drink Assam tea from Yuchih. This romantic union of Sun Cake and Assam Tea was witnessed by everyone present at the ceremony.


Mayor Hu expressed that he felt very happy and very honored that the Sun Cake Prince is able to marry the lovely Assam Tea Princess. And this "Wedding of the Century" at Taichung Park symbolizes “a hundred years' of happiness and many generations of prosperity”. Mayor Hu expressed that new ways of enjoying this combination of Sun Cake and Assam Tea (similar to tea ceremony) is being looked into, in the hopes of increasing international sales of both products, but it is also an effort to bring Chinese culture to the rest of the world and promote the economic development of the central Taiwan region.
