Mayor Hu was sworn in on December 20, and proposed six major hopes for Taichung(2005-12-20)

Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu who had been re-elected, was sworn in as the 15th Mayor of Taichung City on December 20, at a ceremony presided over by the Executive Yuan's Environmental Protection Administration Minister and the Ministry of the Interior's Architecture and Building Research Institute Director General. Mayor Hu expressed that time and resources are limited in the next four years, therefore now is not the time to do too much talking, but a time to roll up our sleeves and start working hard. Mayor Hu then removed his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves and gave everyone a deep bow of appreciation. He also expressed that during his first four year term as mayor of Taichung City, he fulfilled 97% of the promises he made during his election campaign, and he hopes that in this new four year term, he will be able to fulfill more than 97%.


Mayor Hu also proposed his six major Hopes for Taichung, these included making Taichung City corruption free, making it an efficient city, creating prosperity in Taichung, ensuring public safety in the city, building an efficient and convenient transportation network for Taichung and also beautifying Taichung City. He also wanted to promote twelve major city constructions, these included: DaDu Mountain Science and Technology Corridor Stage Two, roads connecting the Greater Taichung Area, South Taichung Cultural Center, an international standard baseball stadium, Taichung Metropolitan Rapid Transportation system, Shui Nan Airport Business and Trade Area Proposal and others. He also expressed that he has collected the 147 political views that were proposed by Lin Chia-Lung and Shen Chih-Hui during the election campaign, and as long as these proposals are feasible, they would be taken into consideration.
