Traffic Control during the Chinese New Year Period around the Taichung City Railway Station Area (2006-01-16)

During the busy Chinese New Year period, traffic control will be put in place near the area around the Taichung Railway Station. During the Chinese New Year Holiday period, road side parking spaces for vehicles and motorcycles and other public parking spaces will be free for six days.


The Traffic Bureau expressed that the area concerned will be west of JianGuo Road, north of MinQuan Road, east of ZiYou Road (not including ZiYou Road) and south of GuangFu Road. The restriction period is from January 27 till February 5, 8am till 10pm daily. During this period, large trucks will not be allowed in the area, but legal city buses, highway buses and other legal bus services will be allowed in. As for hotel and other businesses that require large vehicles or other special needs can make an application for a permit at the Taichung Police Bureau's First Precinct (including JiZhong Police Station), successful applicants will be permitted into the restricted area.


Between January 28 and February 2, during government agencies holidays, the government run parking lots at DaCheng, the two parking lots at ZiYou Stage One and HouFu Street, the two underground parking at Taichung Park will be open for business as usual. Whereas other road side parking for vehicles and motorcycles will be available free for six days.


During these six days of holidays during Chinese New Year, taxi fares will start at NT$85. Bus services, timetable and bus fares will remain unchanged.
